Comprehensive Vision

Encompassing 112 square miles, two high schools, two middle schools and a third middle school under construction seven elementary schools, and more than 9,400 students and 1,000 employees, Midlothian ISD is one of the driving forces behind the community’s rapid growth. Planning for additional facilities is underway to keep pace with the steady arrival of new families and the expanding student population.

As one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas, Midlothian ISD is committed to educational excellence that reaches far beyond today.

In 2017, for example, the district unveiled its 1:1 M*Powered Initiative through which students in kindergarten through fifth grade were equipped with individual iPads and students in middle and high school were issued MacBook Air devices, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.

The district is also one of the first in North Texas to implement a new “SMART Tag” system, or Secured Mobility Authorized Ridership Technology, on MISD school buses. This technology utilizes high-tech ID badges to monitor students’ boarding and disembarking of buses and is designed to enhance bus safety and improve communication between the district, parents, and students.

In the classroom, Midlothian ISD has garnered academic accolades in recent years, earning a five-star rating under the new Texas Smart Schools Rating guidelines (formerly FAST) in 2015 and 2016.

Higher Education

Advanced education opportunities for students of all ages are available through the Midlothian Higher Education Center (MHEC). Approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in April 2012, MHEC is the ninth Multi-Institution Teaching Center (MITC) in Texas and provides resources for students to pursue bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Through partnerships between Navarro College and Tarleton State University, MHEC presents traditional and non-traditional students with a broad array of courses and programs.

Additionally, Midlothian ISD has partnered with MHEC to offer the newly created Midlothian Collegiate Scholars Academy (MCSA), which affords selected incoming ninth graders the opportunity to earn roughly 60 dual credit hours during their four years of high school and graduate with an associate degree.

MISD also has a robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that prepares students for careers in fields including information technology, automotive, graphic design, cybersecurity, health science, aerospace, and much more.

A commitment to academic excellence at a variety of levels ensures that Midlothian’s educational infrastructure is not only helping younger students succeed but also enhancing the quality of the area workforce.
