Each year, Midlothian Economic Development (MED) publishes an annual report to share the progress, and outcomes from our work plan and 5 year strategic plan.

Driving Economic Impact

This year’s report highlights the measurable benefits of ongoing economic development efforts across the city. Active projects supported more than 2,000 direct jobs and generated over $3.1 million in new city tax revenue. When including indirect and induced benefits, these projects account for an estimated 4,375 jobs and $300 million in regional wages. In total, current incentive projects show an average 60% return on investment, meaning that for every dollar invested locally, the community receives $1.60 in return through new jobs, wages, and tax revenue.

Highlights and Construction Updates

Several new projects helped define the past year, including:

  • Quality Tube – Establishing its first U.S. facility in Midlothian with an $85 million investment and 400 new jobs.
  • Medline Industries – Investing $150 million to expand its distribution network and bring 150 new positions to the community.
  • Desert Willow Energy Storage – A $150 million energy storage facility improving grid reliability across Texas.
  • New City Hall and Library – Now serving as a downtown anchor and symbol of civic pride, bringing new energy to Midlothian.
  • Texas State Technical College (TSTC) – Purchased land for a new campus in Midlothian, expanding access to high-demand workforce training and education.

Beyond the Numbers

Economic growth in Midlothian goes beyond new buildings and business investments. MED also focused on initiatives that directly impact residents and local business owners. MED launched our Promotional Program, expanded the Business Academy with the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce, and hosted community forums to explain economic development tools and its benefit.

Looking Ahead

As MED prepares for FY 2025–2026, efforts will continue to focus on attracting primary job employers, strengthening downtown, and advancing workforce opportunities. The foundation laid over the past year positions Midlothian for even greater growth while ensuring the benefits of that growth are shared across the community.
