Since its founding in 1999, Midlothian Economic Development (MED) has remained dedicated to strengthening our community by growing our local economy. Over the past 25 years, this commitment has shaped the city’s economic landscape, created meaningful opportunities for residents, and laid the foundation for a future of continued success.

Intentional Investment, Lasting Impact

MED has made long-term, strategic investments that are yielding tangible results. Thousands of well-paying jobs have been brought to the area, allowing residents to build careers and raise families close to home. Major employers like Gerdau, which now employs over 1,000 workers in Midlothian, are examples of how targeted economic development can translate into sustainable job creation.

Beyond jobs, our investments in infrastructure have supported some of the city’s most transformative projects. These include Methodist Midlothian Medical Center, the new City Hall, Penn to Paper, and the emerging Lawson District. Each of these developments enhances the quality of life in Midlothian and reinforces our city as a place where people want to live, work, and stay.

Investing in People Through Education

MED recognizes that a thriving local economy depends on a well-prepared workforce. That’s why we’ve proudly partnered with Navarro College to support continuing education and workforce training in Midlothian. Looking ahead, the recent land purchase by Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to build a new campus in Midlothian marks another milestone. This addition will offer residents even more access to in-demand skills and certifications without needing to leave our community.

Looking Ahead

Over the last 25 years, MED has remained focused on fostering a strong business climate, attracting smart growth, and positioning Midlothian as a place where both companies and families can succeed. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and we’re just getting started.
