Development Updates

Land Purchse

MED purchased a 1.5-acre property at 200 W Railway Avenue as part of the city’s Downtown Master Plan, supporting efforts to enhance community identity and vibrancy in the downtown area. The site will address immediate parking needs.

Main Street Towne Crossing

In July 2023, MED Board and City Council approved a $3.5 million forgivable loan to support road infrastructure for the new regional retail center in Midlothian. The forgivable loan was granted in July 2025 following the City of Midlothian’s issuance of the Letter of Acceptance. The improved road infrastructure will support the center’s operations and serve as a foundation for additional retail, dining, and potential entertainment development in the area.

MED Community FOrum

MED recently hosted its biannual Community Forum, welcoming about 20 community members. Participants gained insight into the tools MED uses to support economic growth and how incentives are structured to attract and retain businesses. A highlight of the evening was an interactive incentive game, where attendees acted as MED Board members to design a package for a prospective business. The exercise showed how incentives are carefully balanced to create a win-win outcome that benefits both businesses and the Midlothian community.
