Fundamentals of Business
The Fundamentals of Business course is an on-demand training program consisting of 12 professionally produced video segments (approximately 30 minutes each). Each session explores a core business principle covering everything from financial basics to customer relations. Participants receive a workbook to complete guided exercises and document key business fundamentals, creating a personalized blueprint for their company’s growth.
Business Expansion Class
The Business Expansion Class is a four-week program tailored for established Midlothian-based businesses looking to grow. This interactive course covers essential topics such as identifying and aligning growth opportunities, building a strong organizational structure, implementing operational systems, and preparing proper documentation to support expansion. By the end of the program, participants will be equipped with actionable strategies to scale their business with confidence.
Business Before Business
A morning networking event featuring local business speakers who address current and practical business topics. These events are held the 2nd Thursday of each month in the Community Room at the Midlothian City Hall from 8 am to 9:30.Â
Midlothian Pitch Competition
The pitch competition is designed to empower businesses of all sizes by providing a platform to pitch innovative business ideas and expansion plans to a panel of expert judges. A select number of finalists will be chosen from each category to advance to the Final Pitch Event on September 10, 2026
Local Business Grants
Midlothian Economic Development has established the Midlothian Promotional Grant Program to support local businesses in attracting customers to our city. This initiative is intended to provide eligible businesses, including non-profit businesses, with promotional funds to highlight their businesses and attract customers from outside our city. Through this Program, the MED will reimburse up to 75% of advertising expenses upon the completion of the promotional campaign.
